Biogas Program in Kenya and Tanzania

The programme aims to install biogas systems with stoves in communities which are typically using non-renewable biomass and fossil fuels as their main source of cooking fuel. The biogas systems are fed with a feedstock of manure or organic waste, which will be anaerobically digested to produce biogas. The biogas produced will be used to replace the combustion of non-renewable biomass and fossil fuels, thereby reducing CO2-emissions. The programme does also contribute to the reduction of methane-emissions (CH4).

In order to implement the programme distribution networks in Kenya and Tanzania will be installed and gradually expanded through a hub-model.
